When your write about your thoughts and experiences, you can start to see patterns in your behavior and get in touch with your emotions. Additionally, journaling can be a useful tool for exploring what brings you joy and pleasure. It can also help you to clarify your goals and figure out who you want to work with and for (employee/ entrepreneur). While not everyone enjoys journaling, it can be a helpful exercise for those seeking to gain a better understanding of themselves and their place in the world. While journaling, tap into the stream of consciousness and identify the patterns that come up. Write about what you like, what you enjoy, what brings you joy, and your qualities (good and bad). A strong social support system can also provide emotional stability, positive role models, and a sense of belonging. That's right - personal development is a life-long process, and getting to know yourself is your best defense against the world. Personal assessments can help you improve your communication skills, better understand your strengths and weaknesses, and make better decisions in both your personal and professional life. So next time you're considering taking a personality quiz, remember that it could be helping you become a better leader!

5. Combat Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome is a phenomenon that disproportionately impacts women. It is characterized by feelings of self-doubt and inadequacy, despite evidence to the contrary. This can lead to a lack of confidence and difficulty in achieving leadership positions. One way to combat imposter syndrome is to ask your friends and family members to describe you in one word. This exercise can help you to see yourself in a more positive light and build your confidence at the same time. Research shows that your friends and family are more likely to see you as competent and capable than you are yourself. So, don't be afraid to reach out for support from those who know you best. It could just be the thing that helps you achieve your leadership goals.

According to recent statistics, 61% of women have experienced imposter syndrome at some point in their lives, compared to just 36% of men. This self-doubt can severely undermine a woman's ability to succeed in business and in other leadership positions. It is therefore essential that we find ways to overcome imposter syndrome and help more women reach their full potential. One way to do this is by providing mentorship and networking opportunities for women leaders. In addition, by increasing visibility and access to role models, we can help more women believe in themselves and achieve success in leadership roles.

6. Celebrate Your Wins

We all have accomplishments that we should celebrate, and there is nothing wrong with taking pride in our successes. Whether it's a major milestone or a small victory, these accomplishments are a part of who we are and what makes us proud. Unfortunately, in a world of social media and overstimulation, we can let the opinions of others impact us negatively. This can lead to comparison and self-doubt, rather than feelings of accomplishment and achievement. It's important to remember that you should do what feels important to you. You deserve to celebrate your accomplishments! Statistics show that men are more likely to celebrate their successes than women, yet women don't do it for themselves. One way to change this is by setting an example for other women in your life. Take pride in your accomplishments and celebrate them! You'll be setting a positive example and showing other women that it's okay to celebrate themselves too.

7. Goal Setting

Setting goals is an important part of success. Research shows that women who set goals are more likely to achieve them than those who don't. The three initial steps to goal setting are identifying your social support, determining your values and beliefs, and setting realistic and achievable goals. Download our goal setting sheet to set your first 3 goals and book a call set your action plan. It's important for everyone, but especially for women, to set goals for our future and think about what steps we need to take to achieve them. Goal setting is the best way to track our accomplishments and see ourselves accomplishing the goal. A dream is a goal in thin air. Document it and take action. It's important that we don't sabotage our own success due to limiting beliefs. Set a goal and go get it! Let's support each other in achieving our dreams and goals because together we can accomplish anything.

8. Practice Self-Care

Women have always been the backbone of society. We are the ones who keep the family together and raise the children (most commonly). We are also the ones who hold down the fort when our spouses are away at work. However, women are often so busy taking care of everyone else that we forget to take care of ourselves. As a result, we can become overstimulated, anxious, and even depressed. Statistics show that women are more likely than men to suffer from mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. Women are also more likely to be diagnosed with a stress-related illness such as heart disease or high blood pressure. So it's important for women to make self-care a priority.

Self-care can be anything from getting a massage or taking a yoga class or simply spending time in nature or meditating. It doesn't have to be expensive or time-consuming; it just has to be something that makes you feel good. Self-care on a budget is possible; there are many free or low-cost self-care activities that you can do at home or in your community. Get creative and try something new. Your future self will thank you for it.

9. Tune up your spiritual life

Spirituality is an important part of identity formation. The definition of spirituality is "the quality or state of being concerned with religion or religious matters." In today's technological age, spirituality is available to everyone, regardless of religion or beliefs. However, spirituality is not just a mental exercise; it is also a physical one. Spending time with yourself, nature and your spiritual source can help you to feel more connected and grounded. If you need a spiritual tune-up, now is a great time to get that started. Remember, spirituality requires maintenance, not 3 times a year. According to statistics, women are more likely than men to say that spirituality is an important part of our lives. This trend is likely to continue into the future as more and more women seek to connect with their spirituality. Whether you are just beginning your journey or have been on the path for many years, there is always room for growth and exploration when it comes to spirituality.

10. Build Your Network

As women, we thrive in groups. Statistics show that women network more effectively than men and are more likely to seek out mentorship and membership in order to further their careers. We need mentors, friends, and followers in order to feel supported and guided as we navigate our professional and personal lives. Naturally, we nurture relationships and look to others for guidance and belonging. As your identity evolves, you will need to change the people around you. You will outgrow some people that you’ve known forever. You will meet new people that are doing what you want to do, living how you want to live, and are willing to mentor you along your growth journey. Accept help, acknowledge the need for change and invest in a new network. Growth is a lifelong process. By building a strong network of women, we can support each other through every stage of our lives.

11. Ask For Help

Help is one of the greatest gifts that we can give or receive. It allows us to offer assistance to others in need while providing us with the opportunity to receive help when we are in need. However, despite the importance of help, many people are reluctant to ask for help when they need it. This is often because of the stigma that is attached to asking for help. People may feel like they are admitting defeat or admitting that they cannot cope on their own. As a result, they may suffer in silence rather than reach out for help. It is important to remember that everyone needs help at some point in their lives, and there is no shame in asking for help when you need it. In fact, asking for help can be a strength, not a weakness. By reaching out for help, you are taking responsibility for your own well-being and demonstrating your commitment to improving your situation. Stigmas associated with the concept of asking for help can vary depending on culture, context, and individual preferences. Some common terms include: weak, whimpy, though more mature terms are: requesting help, seeking help, needing assistance, wanting help, or requiring help. No matter what terminology you use, the most important thing is to reach out for help when you need it. Help is one of the greatest gifts we can give or receive, so don't be afraid to ask for it when you need it.

12. Trust Your Intuition

As women, we are gifted with intuition. Oftentimes we ignore our own intuition to make decisions that we think are best for us. But the truth is, our intuition knows what's best for us. It's that little voice inside of us that tells us when something isn't right, or when we're about to make a mistake. Today, give yourself permission to trust yourself. You know what's best for you. Stop waiting for an external source to give you permission to do what's best for you. Listen to your intuition, and follow its lead. You won't regret it!

As women, we are constantly striving to be our best selves. We want to be successful in our careers, but we also want to feel fulfilled in our personal lives. The world has termed it work|life balance, though this phrase places the responsibility on women to alter themselves to fit into an outdated ideal of all the roles and responsibilities that come with being all the things to all the people. Once you know who you are, you can be confident in your decision-making and build meaningful relationships with those around you. By following these steps, you will be well on your way to uncovering your authentic identity.
